Take some "me" time.
Consider this: Your halfway through, you have roughly 2000 weeks left, no amount of productivity tools or life hacks will create more time. So how you spend what you have left will determine the quality of your life you ahead. Now whilst the best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the next best time is NOW.
Your best chance of health and well-being in your 80’s is to be fit in your 40’s and 50's. But you know this. It's never too late to make a change, and with just a modest investment of 3 hours training per week, you can pave the way for a healthier fitter you and a more fulfilling future.
How do I know that you can do this? I have been on this journey, I have done it and I hope that this helps you do it.

The next 2000 weeks are a canvas waiting for your brushstroke – will you paint a masterpiece? You take ultimate responsibility for your life, no one else. You are accountable for how fit or healthy you are.
A mere 3 hours a week is a small investment compared to the lifelong dividends it can yield. It's an investment not just in physical health but in resilience, fortitude, and a determination to be the best version of yourself.
Break the Mold: From Overweight to Great
Are you ready to redefine what "middle-aged and fabulous" looks like? Can you imagine the respect from your friends, family, and colleagues at your incredible transformation. a new you that radiates health and vitality? It's not about becoming a fitness model; it's about becoming the best you can be and optimising the body you have to carry you through your 4000 week journey.
A Source of Inspiration for Your Loved Ones
If you have children, consider the life lessons that you will teach them. Lessons in resilience, commitment, determination, grit, hard work, and the extraordinary results and achievements that come from dedication. By showing them what can be accomplished through commitment, you become a beacon of inspiration, setting an example for a life well-lived.
How to Begin Your Journey
Get Active
At least 30 minutes per day, park a little further away, walk to work, take the stairs for a few floors, rather than the lift, go for family walks at the weekend, take up a social sport, cycle, swim. In fact anything that gets you out of your chair and elevates your heart rate. Get a run/walk plan progressively builds on your fitness levels and physical confidence. The key is slow progression, the bosy takes time to adapt to your new active lifestyle - don't rush it.
Once you can run/jog 30 minutes 2-3 times per week, set a different goal to run your fastest 5k, get a plan to do that. How far you progress with your running depends on how much you enjoy this.
I stayed this journey because I simply couldn't achieve the same highs from cycling or swimming.
Get a Personalised Training Program
When you are ready to go to the next level get a personalised training program. You can get this from a running coach or any number of AI powered apps. However, remember that these applications can be generic despite what they say about personalisation, they are generalised to a normal population.
I have personally tried several of these platforms and without fail they have all underestimated my fitness and suggested a conservative training plan and therefore would undertrain me and I would not achieve the goals that I have.
Every person is unique, you are unique, your journey is unique, and your fitness plan should be too. Consult with a coach to create a personalised training program tailored to your goals and constraints.
Talk to a Coach
Guidance is invaluable. Beyond a scientifically proven, progressive training plan, a coach provides honest feedback, support, motivation, accountability, and expertise to ensure you stay on track and make the most of your 3 hours per week.
Personally, I am always more motivated by a person than automated encouragement from a machine.
Embrace Consistency and Commit
Consistency is one of the most important aspects of your journey. An active lifestyle has to become a habit. Rome wasn't built in a day, and your transformation won't happen overnight. Be consistent, be patient, show up for yourself, and let each small step pave the way for something extraordinary.
Get your Diet under control
It doesn't have to be difficult or too sacrificial, you know what you shouldn't be eating or drinking. So cut back, moderate, don't starve yourself. I found that when I reduced then cut out alcohol, chocolate and snacks, rebalanced my eating so it more closely reflected the Mediterranean Diet, I shed 2lbs or 1kg per week. Whilst training 3 hours a week.
